      Ischemic chest pain in the post myocardial infarction period is a common clinical condition. It may occur within the infarct zone or at a distance. Anunderstanding of the current concepts of the pathophysiology of this syndrome leads to a better appreciation of the approach to its treatment. The aggressive management of postinfarction angina, protecting jeopardized myocardium, will lead to improved patient outcome.
